Panos Amvrosiadis was born in Stuttgart, Germany on the 18th June 1969. When Panos was just two, the family decided to move back to his father’s home town of Drama (Kyria) Greece. Growing up Panos discovered a love of Dancing, Martial Arts and Performing so it only seems right that at the tender age of 15 he started taking TAE KWON-DO lessons professionally. Whilst feeding his passion for Martial Arts, Panos was also studding hard at college to achieve a certificate as a qualified electrician. After finishing college in 1988, Panos then went on to serve in the Navy for 2 years as a part of Greece's National Service. Then after all his hard work and training with TAE KWON-DO, Panos was rewarded with his first black belt in 1992.This achievement spurred Panos's ambition to become a Martial Arts teacher himself, so the same year he opened his own school teaching ages from 5-50 and as his reputation grew so did the number of students. In 1994 Panos achieved his 2nt black belt and went on to win silver in the Greek National championship for the world TAE KWON-DO Federation. He also choreographed all his TAE KWON-DO shows and filmed them as well, which then opened up new doors for him, in the industry behind the scenes. Panos had found his vocation in life, with making films. This included every aspect of movie making from the camera work to the directing, the editing to producing even the sound to the acting. Panos's first ever amateur movie was called: Χωρής Αισθήματα (Without Feeling) which was followed by a Martial Arts film that never reached completion, both made in Greece. Panos's dancing career brought him to England in 1996, yet although he Performed Greek dancing for many years, his true passion of movie making was never far from his thoughts. After spending his first 2 years in England training with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and being highly commended in his modern dance examination and receiving honours in tap dance, Panos resourceful man that he is, decide to take his camera along for the journey and filmed a one year (pack packing) holiday into amateur documentary. When Panos returned from his final destination in Sydney, he quickly found an interesting job as an entertainer in Warwick castle where he learnt the art of medieval archery in his performances. Yet Panos yearned to be where the camera’s were and when he could be making films as well. As luck would have it, Panos met future friend and colleague Scott Morton who was also an actor and producer. A collaboration of interests, ideas and investments lead to the association of Onavon & Amvrofilms making a success of short movies together. This proved to be essential for his own personal, future films which he starred in and also for the work Panos did as a supporting actor in top series on E4, BBC1, ITV and CH4. Panos continued to make several short films as an independent production company, including his most recent and self acclaimed film Web.Trap.Com. |
